Enabling rapid cell line development with automation.

Use automation to maintain cell culture quality while increasing throughput across your cell culture lines

Rapid cell line development

The challenge

Keeping cell cultures healthy and high quality is time consuming, resource-intensive and requires a significant amount of manual human intervention.

Our automated solution addresses these limitations and allows labs to make more efficient use of their time and resources, by fully utilising instruments to improve throughput, and minimise the risk of human error.

Quality of cell cultures

Automation enables repeatable, predictable results for labs of all shapes and sizes. Today, human error is one of the largest hidden costs within labs, resulting in inaccurate data, result bias and lost time.

Staff at cell culture labs need to conduct repetitive manual tasks to enable the healthy growth of cells, and often have to work through evenings and weekends to ensure this. This is a significant strain on staff, leading to low morale and a high turnover for cell culture labs.

Barriers to scale

Because of the linear workflows that cell cultures labs use, cell culture growth is a time-intensive process resulting in significant barriers to scale due to a large manual staffing requirement

The solution

Moving away from manual linear workflows and adding parallelisation to processes can improve lab’s throughput, as well as cell culture quality.

Automata’s automated cell culture solution enables parallelisation of processes and takes care of the repetitive, manual tasks. It is highly flexible and modular, with a small footprint making it suitable for labs of all shapes and sizes.

Walk-away time

Automation allows staff to focus on high-value tasks, as opposed to manual and repetitive motions. This improves staff productivity and morale, resulting in improved retention.

Increased throughput

Automata’s solution enables labs to scale their throughput by parallelising workflows and eliminating manual steps. This saves time and resources, enabling drastic throughput improvements by moving away from a linear workflow approach.

Full traceability of samples is guaranteed through Automata’s Hub, which integrates into lab’s workflows and sends the data into their LIMS. Our error handling capabilities safeguard the quality of cell cultures throughout the workflow.

Cell culture is better with robotics

Do more with robotic-enabled cell culture solutions

With Automata, cell culture workflows can be automated from start to finish by combining and integrating existing and new instruments. This result is an adaptable cell line development platform for labs of all shapes and sizes.

Cell incubator

Automated cell incubators can be custom to your requirements to hold various plates, from petri dishes to 1536-well plates, with a temperature range of capabilities between +10° to 50°C, humidity up to 95% r.H. and stable CO2 conditions.

Automated centrifuges can be integrated into your automation system to allow you to efficiently separate your pellets and supernatants. Transferring to and from liquid handlers will allow you to sample or resuspend depending on your current platform’s demands.

Liquid handling

Compatibility with a range of liquid handling instruments allow for a versatile and flexible automation system. Incorporating autosamplers, aspirators and reagent dispensers enhance your customisation capabilities.

Cell counter and microscopy

Incorporation of cellular imagery and cell counting devices allow for continuous assessment of your cells without human intervention. This reduces your scientists’ hands-on time spent transporting and sampling from plates, as well as decreasing the amount of time your cells spend outside incubators.
