About Joe
Joe has over 27 years of experience in health technology having held a wide variety of roles and founding a number of successful businesses in the sector. Today, he has several investor, non-executive and advisory roles alongside his role as Executive Chairman and Director of Corporate Development (EMEA) at Automata, being a non-executive director at Holland & Barrett, and with investor and advisory positions at Mettle, Macmillan Cancer Support, Music Health, SymbioTex, Ufonia, AdviseInc, L1 Impact and UNAIDS. We don’t know how he has time, either! He has an MSc in logistics and supply chain management from Cranfield so loves nothing more than seeing automation in action. Joe came to know Automata through his position leading the healthtech team at Octopus Ventures, one of the most active European VC funds and multi-time Automata investor. Joe is a proactive advocate for impact investing and the significant role that risk capital can play in developing affordable and accessible healthcare systems around the world. He has contributed to a number of thought leadership reports on the topic of healthtech and soon to be published as a contributor to a forthcoming book “Resilient Health: Leveraging Technology and Social Innovations to Transform Healthcare for COVID-19 Recovery and Beyond”. Joe lives in Bath, has had a season ticket at Chelsea for nearly 30 years but now spends most weekends on kids sports touchlines or attempting to improve his triathlon times.
