About Alice

Alice Tome-Fernandez is a Senior Applications Scientist at Automata.

After studying Natural Science at the University of East Anglia, she went on to work at pioneering companies such as Illumina, TwistDx, and Cambridge Epigenetix.

Now, with 10 years of experience developing multi-omics tools and the application of laboratory automation, she leverages that experience at Automata by delivering automation solutions rooted in scientific knowledge and personal insights into laboratory processes.

I love working in this field because…

Medical biology is something that’s super personal to me. I have type 1 diabetes, and when I was younger spent a lot of time in hospitals with my dad hearing medical talk and seeing what doctors do for people. I really respected that, and that they were using science to do it. I thought it was cool back then and still do!
